Keynote Author Reception at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort, Friday September 14, 2018
We kick off the first Allegheny Regional Festival of Books on September 14, 2018 with a Friday evening reception at the historic Omni Bedford Springs Resort.
We are delighted to announce our keynote author for the reception is Ellen Prentiss Campbell. Not only does Ellen have close ties to Bedford, her historical novel, The Bowl with Gold Seams, centers around the Bedford Springs Resort at a pivotal time in the hotel’s history, the Second World War.
Ellen Prentiss Campbell is the author of the novel The Bowl with Gold Seams (Apprentice House, 2016) and the short story collection Contents Under Pressure (Broadkill River Press, 2016), which was nominated for the National Book Award. Her short fiction has been featured in numerous journals including The Massachusetts Review, The Potomac Review, and The MacGuffin. Her essays and reviews have appeared in The Fiction Writers Review, where she is a contributing editor, and the Washington Independent Review of Books. She lives in Washington, D.C., and summers in Manns Choice, PA.
Ellen will also read excerpts of her work during the Festival on Saturday, September 15, 2018, and she will be available to sign books in the author tent.
A selection of desserts will be served at the Reception, and, in addition to the keynote address, the evening will feature fundraising activities for local literacy programs. Ticket information will be available nearer the date.
